Part time speech therapist Tammye Deimel will be teaching at both schools. This will be her first teaching job. A native of Little Rock she graduated from the University of Arkansas.
“I wanted a change from Arkansas, so I moved to Northern Virginia,” she said. Now she has decided she does not like the Washington, D. C. area and is glad to get a job in a small school system in countryside that looks like Arkansas. “Everybody has been so nice,” she said.
Linda Robinson will be teaching home economics at the high school. Originally from Washington state, she graduated from St. Olaf College in Minnesota. She taught for one year in Seattle and then taught adult education for 10 years in California.
Since moving with her husband to Lakota in Fauquier County she has worked for two years in the kitchen for the Inn at Little Washington and for four years at Primavera Treatment Center. “I’ve done some of everything,” she said. “I’ve farmed and had a vineyard too.”
Andra Logan, who will be a special education teacher at the high school, was bom and raised in Warren County. After getting a degree from the University of Virginia, she taught for 15 years in Warren County.
She decided to teach in Rappahannock because “I heard about the quality program, and I was ready for an upbeat change. The smaller school appeals to me.”
