Grace Bohm
Grace Poe Bohm, 67, of Bowie, Md., died Monday, Aug. 31 at the Prince Georges Hospital.
The funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 3 at the Beall-Evans Funeral Home in Bowie, Md. Burial will be in Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, Md.
Mrs. Bohm was born in Rappahannock County, the daughter of the late Walter Bruce and Susan Priest Poe.
Surviving are her husband, Richard Bohm; two sisters, Alta Baldwin of Lanham, Md. and Lennis Poe of St. Louis, Mo. and two brothers, Harvey Poe of Annandale and Claude Poe of Jacksonville, N.C.
M.W. Fincham Sr.
Maury Willis Fincham Sr., 71, of Culpeper, died Sunday, Aug. 30 at Henrico Doctor’s Hospital in Richmond.
Mr. Fincham was born Feb. 13, 1921 in Madison County, the son of the late Major William and Daisy Jenkins Fincham.
He was a retired plant supervisor for Fawn Grove Manufacturing, he was a member of Culpeper Baptist Church and Fairfax Masonic Lodge . 43 Odd Fellows.
Survivors include his wife, Alma G. Fincham; two sons, Maury W. Fincham Jr. of Lititz, Pa. and Marshall Fincham of Concord, N.C.; a daughter, Mrs. Alice Gott of Richmond; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. John Riley of Culpeper and a brother, Col. Jack E. Fincham of Culpeper.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Sept. 2 at Culpeper Masonic Cemetery with Dr. H.O. Browning officiating.
A masonic service was Jield at Clore Funeral Home in Culpeper Tuesday, Sept. 1.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Association or Culpeper Baptist Church, 318 West St., Culpeper, Va. 22701.
Smith returns
from Russia
Karen Anne Smith, 14, daughter of Gary and Judy Lillard Smith of Tempe, Ariz. and granddaughter of Mrs. Mabel Lillard of Flint Hill recently returned from Russia where she participated in the “People to People” program as a student ambassador.
During the 23 day trip, the 36 students visited Moscow, Vladimir, and St. Petersburg. They also visited a youth camp with other Russian youths. The group enjoyed the Moscow Ballet, the St. Petersburg Ballet and a visit to the St. Basil’s Cathedral.
The main purpose of this trip was for the students to meet face to face with their Russian counterparts hoping that understanding each other will help in the quest for world peace.
