Pesticide Cleanupi
“Rappahannock County is one o£ four counties in Virginia selected t<£ participate in a pesticide disposal program in late summer 1993,” sai<j; Scott Cunningham, Extension Agent in Rappahannock County? Mr. Cunningham stated that th£ Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services selected Rappahannock County from a group of counties who responded to the 1991 farmer pesticide waste survey;? The other counties selected fo£ cleanup are Warren, Southhampton and Suffolk.
The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors conferred theif stamp of approval for the pesticide disposal program during their early March meeting. County Administrator, John McCarthy stated, “This program will benefit the entij*§ county as unwanted and unusable pesticides will be removed from the county and disposed of properly., Mr. McCarthy added, “This pro| gram will take the cooperative eft forts of everyone, Extension, local officials, state officicals and participating citizens, to implement a sue? cessful nrotrram.” *
