The program included familiar works by three of our best know n composers. The music was complex, not easy. Indeed, Haydn’s Op. 74, No. 2 has been described by H.C. Robbins Landon as “high powered” with a “nervous brilliance,” and was “expressly written for a famous violin virtuoso.”
Clearly, these young musicians did not spare themselves. For the audience, it was a great pleasure to hear the music performed with such talent, and to share the musicians’ quiet exhilaration and steadfast concentration.
