Barn dance scheduled
There will be an old fashion bam dance at the Digges Bam in Amissville to benefit the Rappahannock Athletic Association from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on June 25. The band, Heavy Dreamer will be playing. There will also be a bon fire, food and set-upsi No one under 21 will be admitted. Tickets will be sold at the gate and will be $25 per couple or $15 singles. Fashion show planned
On Thursday, May 20 the Fashion and Tailoring Department of Piedmont Technical Education Center will present a fasion show “Spring’s Magical Garden” at 7:30 p.m. in the school auditorium on Route 15 South of Culpeper. The clothing, which is being shown, has been created by the students in the class. Everyone is invited to attend.
4-H special interest camps
Registration for Special Interest Camps began April 5. Camps planned for this year include: Fresh Water Fisheries Camp, Horse Camp, Environmental Camp, Creative Performing Arts Camp, Teen Jubilee, High Adventure Camp, Cloverbud Camps, and Intermediate Congress. Banquet planned
Tickets are on sale now for the Rappahannock County High School athletic banquet and awards ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 27. Varsity athletes attend free. Tickets for others are $3.
Wood to meet with parents
Forester and naturalist Lyt Wood will meet with parents of preschool children at the Library at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 24 to disucss ways of involving young people in the wonders of the natural world.
Fashion show planned
Hospice of the Rapidan and the Orange County Hospice Volunteers will host an afternoon tea and fashion show, “Fashions for All” on Saturday, May 22 at the Orange Presbyterian Church. Cost is $15 per person .and all proceeds benefit Hospice of the Rapidan. To purchase tickets call Hospice at 825-4840.
Bawkey reunion
The families of William and Fannie Cobb Bawkey will meet for their annual reunion on Sunday, May 23 at the Rappahannock Park on U.S. 211 near Washington. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m. All family members and friends are invited to attend.
Yard and bake sale
The Amissville United Methodist Women will hold their annual yard and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 22 at the chruch. Lunch will be available as well as yard sale items.
Bereavement group to meet
The Bereavement/Support Group sponsored by Hospice of the Rapidan will meet at 7 p.m. on May 25 at the Washington Baptist Church. Custom Cruisers at AVFD
Custom Cruisers of Northern Virginia will be at the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday and Sunday, May 29 and 30.
The rain or shine event will feature a model car contest, door prizes, music, bingo, raffles and games for adults and children. For more information call Scott Hensley at 937-4577.
