Maria Reynolds asked why the school system could not develop an evacution procedure that did not involve sending children home early to empty homes.
Dr. Gangel said, as with days when school is closed early because of snow or flooding, children were allowed to make calls to try to let parents know they would be coming home early. He added that the school system would try to find solutions to the problem.

When the area was threatened by thunderstorms on Wednesday, the roofing crew left except for two workers who allegedly were to clean up.
Before school started on Thursday, the two workers used cleaning fluids to remove specks of tar-like roofing material that had spattered on windows in the sixth and seventh grade hall.
