Mike Massie said his support for advertising the budget did not mean he supported the budget or the proposed tax rate.

Monday’s session was fairly calm as the supervisors heard presentations from several organizations making few comments and asking few questions.

Accountant Wally Cox said passing the proposed budget would mean drawing down the general fund surplus by about $400,000 to about $1 million. That would be more than 10 percent of the proposed $8.6 million budget.

Mr. Cox said he recommends keeping about 10 percent in reserve and added the surplus at the end of the current year will be greater than anticipated because more funds were budgeted than will actually be spent this year and
