He also said a major expense causing the surplus to be drawn down will be due to closing the current cell at the landfill, a non-recurring expense.
However, the supervisors have not decided whether to enter into an agreement with Fauquier County to take county trash. If they continue to operate at the current landfill, the coming year’s budget will include not only the cost of closing the current cell, but the cost of constructing a new one.
The work session last week included the budgets of the constitutional officers including the sheriffs budget. The supervisors have yet to decide whether to fund locally an additional deputy. That position was not included in the budget.
