Lynch, who was away on vacation^ to keep Betty Smith as a library employee. Ms. Smith is working in the library 24 hours a week and is being paid out of state grant funds for the conversion to a computerized card catalogue. Funds for the position will run out in mid-August.
In her letter Mrs. Lynch praised Ms. Smith’s work and noted that in coming months it will be necessary to assign each patron and book a bar code for circulation. “Life is about to get busier at the library,” the letter, said.
After meeting in executive session the board decided that Mrs. Lynch could use her judgment in assigning part-time hours within the current budget for part-time emr ployees.
Statistics show that library usage is continuing to grow. Circulation was up 6 percent this year over last and 75 percent over two years ago. The number of patrons and use of the meeting room is growing also.
The board approved policies on the use of the meeting room, exhibits and displays and lending large equipment. *
