VA Simmental Field Day
Monira K. Rifaat is hosting Field Day for the Virginia Simmental Association on Saturday, July 31 at Manor Farm. Events include a heifer judging contest organized by the Virginia Junior Simmental Association and a barbecue for lunch. Simmental cattle will be on display. For information please call 987-8613.
Children's Concert
The Child Care and Learning Center will be sponsoring a children’s concert by Richmond performing artist “Betsy Q.” Forbes at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 10.
Betsy will be singing songs from her two albums “Butterfly In My Soup” and “Are We There Yet?” Admission is $1 and the public is invited to attend. The concert will be held outdoor at the CCLC pavilion (or indoors if it nuns). Children must be accampanied by an adult.
Committee Meeting Planned
The Mental Retardation Committee Meeting of the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board will hold a meeting at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5 in the Lord Culpeper Building.
Football Registration
Football sign up for the Rappahannock Panthers will be holding its last registration at the high school from 9 a.m.-l p.m. on Saturday, July 31 for youth 12-15 of age. For more information contact Tony Hoffman at 937-5751.
Benefit bake sale
A bake sale will be held beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 31 at the home of Lillian Aylor, Rt 1002, house adjacent to Potomac Edison Substation, Sperryville to benefit the Sunday School of Promise Land Baptist Church Orders will be taken by calling 987-8064.
Horseshow Planned
There will be a horseshow at Old Mill Stable at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14. For more information call Moody Aylor at 987-8215.
Family Fun Day
On Saturday, Aug. 14 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. the Amissville Ruritan Club, Inc. will host their annual BBQ an Family Fun Day. The event will be held at Stuart Field on U.S. 211, the lane just below Amissvile Methodist Church.
Events will include Sunny 94, live broadcast from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Health Fair from 10 a.m: to 2 p.m.; Live entertainment, bring your own lawn chair or blanket; Petting Zoo; Moon Bounce rides; games; BBQ to start serving at 11 a.m.; Horseshoe Tournament; Raffle Booth; Bake Sale and Crowning of Miss and Mr. Ruritan 1993. Rain date is Saturday, Aug. 21.
