Perform
The teenage participants in Ki Theatre’s Summer Program for Teens in Performing Arts will perform for the public in culmination of their three-week intensive workshop at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 31.
The production is a musical theater adaption from the novel Animal Farm by George Orwell. The performances will be held at Ki Theatre on Gay Street, Washington. Reservations can be made by calling Ki Theatre at 675-1616; reservations are recommended as seating is limited. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children.
Animal Farm is a classical and timeless tale of the pitfalls awaiting those whose desire for freedom turn into a desire for power. Its emotions range from the humorous to the touching to the serious. The music is a delightful mix of songs, all sung by the teenagers. Some are beautiful and balladlike, others fun, spirited and rollicking. The teens will be costumed in masks to portray their animal characters that they have designed themselves and have executed under the supervision of area artist, Peggy Schadler.
