The Bluemont Concert Series brings the Caribbean Festival to both Culpeper and Luray this weekend, while Ethyl and Methyl sing honk-tonk classics in Warrenton.
The Caribbean Festival features the island sounds of the Pan Masters Steel Orchestra with music and dancing by both the performers and audience. Drums and bongos accompany an orchestra of ten 55-gallon oil drums that bring out the rhythms and melodies of Trinidad and Tobago.
You can experience this music from the sunny tropics at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 31 in Luray, and 7 p.m. Sunday August 1 in Culpeper. The Luray concert will be held at the Inn Lawn Park on Zerkle Street; the Culpeper performance will be on the lawn of the old county courthouse. Concert-goers are encouraged to come dressed in island attire.
