Actors and performers from a four-county area are joining forces to be part of Ki Theatre’s spring production, Open Theatre. This coming Friday and Saturday, April 8 and 9 will be the focal point for the talents of many different community members in two different evenings of rollicking and unusual mini-plays and readings, all offered for pure entertainment.
The brainchildren of Ki Theatre Artistic Director Julie Portman, Open Theatre will provide an expanded forum for local actors and directors, showcasing their particular talents in each respective field. Participants range in age from toddlers to seniors, and each night’s selections will offer something for the entire family.
Friday evenings, the hilarious parody on marriage, “Marred Bliss” (spelling correct) that has been performed at a number of local weddings will be seen, along with a scene from a play by Sam Shepherd. Two quite different variations of the same piece, “Bread,” will be featured to illustrate the subtleties of good direction, along with other dramatic and fun goodies filling the bill.
