Mr. Settle continued into Rappahannock County, followed closely by Officer Hensley, Trooper Fleming, and Cpl. B.S. Rogers of the Sheriffs Office, the report said. On Route 615 in Rappahannock County, the report said, Cpl. Rogers attempted to pass the suspect in order to effect a traffic stop, but his cruiser was struck in the side by Mr. Settle and knocked into a ditch, the report said. Mr. Settle then lost control of his truck and overturned on Route 615, the report said. i
Once stopped in Rappahannock County, he was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to testing, hit and run, driving on a suspended license, and failure to stop for a police officer, the report ! said.
According to the report, no one was injured in the crashes, but the vehicles sustained damage. Trooper Fleming’s cruiser suffered $364 in damage while Cpl. Roger’s cruiser suffered $2,000, the report said, and Mr. Settle’s vehicle was totalled. Mr. Settle was being held in the Rappahannock County jail on $25,000 bond, Chief Koglin said.
In District Court Tuesday the i charges against Mr. Settle were continued until May 17.
