Mr. Rater’s compositional talents lead cable T.V.’s Discovery Channel to hire him to write the score for “How the West Was Lost,” a six part mini-series depicting factual information, dramatic photographs from the National Archives and ancestral stories from a Native American perspective. The series depicts the story of how the white man’s move west impacted their lives. It has been aired twice due to its appeal. The sound track reached Number 9 on Billboard charts, with Mr. Rater’s arrangements, Mr. Nakai and Mr. Hooker’s accompainment and a host of other talented musicians and singers creating a distinctive Native American sound.
Tickets are $15 with partial proceeds to benefit the Rappahannock High school drama club. Advance tickets are highly recommended and can be purchased at Mountainside Market and the Earth Gallery in Washington, New Leaf Bookstore and Natural Marketplace in Warrenton, Royal Oak Books in Front Royal, Feather on the Wind in Charlottesville and Culpeper Music.
