Ranwhannock New* Staff Writer • Most of Monday’s afternoon meeting of the Board of Supervisors was routine, but implementing the E-911 system generated some discussion.
• County Administrator John McCarthy missed most of the meeting, but he had given the supervisors a note setting out the schedule for bringing on line the system that will enable dispatchers in the sheriffs office to tell exactly where a call to 911 is coming from.
According to Mr. McCarthy’s timetable, the last private roads will have names assigned. This list will be run in a newspaper ad for public comment, and then the names will be fed into the system. , In late June residents will start getting notices from their post offices giving their new addresses. They will have one year to switch to the new addresses. ! VDOT will be putting up signs this summer, but it will be November before the system is entirely online.
