“Tuesday we played the best baseball we could play. We stayed focused and outhit them. Today we just got ourselves in a hole,” he said following Friday’s loss.
In the softball team’s loss to Page Tuesday Amy Payne pitched the whole game giving up one walk and getting four strikeouts. Cyndi Welch got two singles. Janet Hitt and Angie Atkins each had a double, and Amy Payne and Courtney Welch each had a single.
Luray ran into a buzzsaw in the bottom of the sixth inning against the Panther squad Friday. With Rappahannock leading 11-6, the home team got virtually everyone on base at least once in that inning, and most managed to score. Rappahannock added another nine runs to the score.
Kylene Wolfe started for the Panthers and pitched four innings getting credit for a win in her first start.
The team gathered in 17 hits. Cyndi Welch had three singles. Janet Hitt had two singles. Cari Kerr led the batting with three doubles and a single. Kati Paratore and Tiffany Keys had two singles each. Julie Atkins had a single as did Courtney Mauro.
