Notice of Public Hearing Proposed Rate Increase

Sperryville Sewer System Notice is hereby given in accordance with §15.1-1260 of the Code of Virginia, 1950 (as amended) that the Rappahapnock County Water & Sewer Authority will consider a proposed rate increase at a public hearing to be held on Monday, September 23, 1996 at 7:30 p.m. at the Courthouse in Washington, VA. The rate increase was proposed by resolution adopted by the Authority on July 11, 1996 and is intended to fund improvements to the Sperryville Sewage Treatment Plant, increased costs of operation, and long-term capital costs. The proposed rate increase is $10.00 per estimated daily use (EDU), for a total of $31.50 per month, per EDU; said increase to take effect retroactively to July 1, 1996. Interested persons are invited to attend and to make comment, or to address their comments in writing to the Rappahannock County Water & Sewer Authority, P.O. Box 253, Sperryville, VA 22740. WHEREAS, the Rappahannock County Water & Sewer Authority is preparing to construct needed improvements to the Sperryville Sewage Treatment Facility; and, WHEREAS, additional revenue will be required to finance these improvements, as well as to keep pace'with the increasing costs of operating the system and to fund future repairs and maintenance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Rappahannock County Water & Sewer Authority, in accordance with §15.1-1260 of the Code of Virginia, 1950 (as amended) does hereby propose to levy a rate increase of $10.00, resulting in an effective monthly rate of $31.50 per estimated daily usage (EDU) and that this rate increase shall be retroactive to July 1,1996; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a public hearing to consider this increase shall be held on September 23,1996 at 7:30 o'clock p.m. at the Courthouse in Washington, VA. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a notice of this proposed rate increase and the public hearing to consider same shall be published in the Rappahannock News on July 17 & 24,1996, in accordance with §15.1-1260.
