A Special

Thank You

To the Editor:

To every person in the Rappahannock County community who worked to make the Fourth of July celebration a wonderful day and a big success, a special thank you for your efforts and your ability to have fun while working hard.

The RAAC Planning Committee deserves special recognition since they have worked since the snows of early February ‘til after the Fourth to make this one day a great celebration for the entire county.

We would also like to thank each of you for your gracious acceptance of the rerouting of traffic in the evening before and after the fireworks. We know that it creates a problem for a few in order to speed the departure of our many guests. Another special thanks to the Sheriffs Department for their tireless hours of traffic control, crowd direction, and general helpful attitude.

This year, many of you volunteered to help next year. This is a welcome treat and the RAAC Planning Committee can use all the assistance we can get. Please let one of us know if you would like to help out in any small way next year. Again, thank you to all of this year’s workers for all your efforts and volunteered hours.

Taxes Are

Too High

To the Editor:

I would like to take issue with the editorials by this newspaper on June 26, titled “Budgets” and on July 3, titled “Editorial Platform.”

On June 26 this paper states that state and federal tax cuts help no one if local taxes have to increase to cover revenue shortfalls. Also, local taxes have gone up due to state and federal unfunded mandates. This paper also expressed that county representatives are and should be non partisan.

Regarding the so called tax cuts.
