The members of the Planning Commission have sent a series of amendments to the Zoning Ordinance, covering country inns, conference centers and golf courses to the Board of Supervisors with the recommendation that they be adopted.
Most have to do with what will be allowed as a country inn, retreat or lodge and what will be allowed for a resort or conference center.
The chief distinction is that a countiy inn, retreat or lodge has 20 or fewer double occupancy rooms and a resort or conferente center has more than 20, if the amendments are adopted by the supervisors. Also a country inn requires a special use permit while a resort or conference center requires a special exception.
After discussion in a public hearing the planners modified the regulations slightly. They had read seven rooms per 25 acres, and that was changed to eight rooms per 25 acres.
There are additional requirements that accessory buildings used by guests myst be at least 100 feet from the property line.
Tom Tepper and Jim Gannon expressed concerns about allowing such large scale developments. Mr. Tepper said they should be restricted to hard surfaced roads.
