Charles McCoy, 18, of Chester. Gap, was issued a summons for illegal dumping last Saturday, after five bags of trash and a woman’s purse were found on Route 6JO in Chester Gap. Major MacWelch said that Deputy Chris Williams sifted through the trash and found pieces of mail, leading him to Mr. McCoy, who returned and picked up the trash.

Meeting Set
The Piedmont Area Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at the Western Sizzlin’ restaurant on U.S. 29 in Warrenton.
Social time begins at 6 p.m. with the meeting beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The meeting is for all Vietnam veterans and Vietnam era veterans who served in the armed forces from Jan. 1, 1959 through May 7, 1975. Membership is open to the general public, and families and friends of these veterans are especially welcome.
