In response tor reasons why, Dr. Gangel said “I’m not sure we can ever get to the point where we can say this is what happened ” “Dr.” Tole claims this problem has developed over time and it will take time to fix. We do not have time, “Dr.” Tole! “Dr.” Gangel would like the goal set at 80 percent passing. Sho.uld not the goal be 100 percent?
Recently, Principal Raye Tupper claims the abysmal results are due to declining federal money for instruction. yet the school system has money for air conditioning in the auditorium, new computers, two new computer labs, money and time for “enrichment” such as longer periods for music and arts, a school newspaper, drama and forensics and let’s not forget the “ecology club”!
After all this, there \yill be more time at lunch for “students to sit with their friends and go outside when they are finished eating.” It is great according to Mrs. Tupper that students in kindergarten through seventh grade can have particularly positive interaction with each other.
With “Dr.” Gangel having no idea what the problems are, “Dr.” Tole claiming it will take tiirte to fix those unknown problems, and Principal Tupper handling pressing issues like positive interaction, it is no wonder why our schools are failing.
Money is not the problem. It is being applied wrong! School is for learning math, history, English and science. Until these subjects are mastered at that grade level, everything else is secondary. This includes computers. Remember, quality computer information is irrelevant to an illiterate user.
