Jams
Jams are usually made with small fruits or with chopped large fruits. Cook slowly with an equal weight of sugar until thick; put into sterilized tumblers or jars and seal.
Raspberry Jam
Pick over berries. Mash a few in bottom of preserving kettle; continue until fruit is used. Heat slowly to boiling point and add equal quantity of heated sugar. Cook slowly 45 minutes. Put into sterilized jars.
Blackberry, gooseberry or other berry jam may be made in this way.
Peach Marmalade
5 cups diced peaches
2 cups crushed pineapple
7 cups sugar

On June 4, Thomas, Lord Culpeper Chapter of Colonial Dames XVII Century met at the Culpeper Country Club.
The Colonial Dames entertained or rather were entertained by a 1944 Westpoint graduate who writes history. Coincidentally, he graduated on DDay, June 6, 1944.
Nels A. Parson, writes history that reaches from pre-Revolutionary days of the Roman invasion of England, from our Confederacy days to modem battles — Wars, hundreds of years and thousands of miles apart.
His writing of history is based on and colored not only by research but by his own experiences in modern day warfare.
He has written for Military and Civilian periodicals and three books. Guided Missiles in War and Peace, Missiles and the Revolution in Warfare and a novel, The Compleat Journal of London Vickers.
In this historical novel. Nels Parson presents to a new generation the origin of out national values in an adventure story based solidly on actual events of the time.
