Music lovers have a special day to look forward to this Fourth of July when the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and Community, together with the Town of Washington, hosts a day of entertainment, beginning with songs and tunes at noon and lasting well into the evening’s fireworks display.
One of the entertainers highlighted this year is Bruce Hutton, who has been performing traditional American folk music professionally since 1973. He is scheduled to perform at 4 p.m. and again at 8 p.m.
In addition to his solo performances for all ages, Hutton performs with a band he founded called Double Decker Stringband which has been playing “Old Tune” music since 1977. The group’s performances and recordings have received critical acclaim internationally.
Double Decker Stringband’s radio performances include NPR’s “Prairie Home Companion” and the group was featured on TNN’s cable television program, “Fire on the Mountain.”
