Mabel Lillard
Flint Hill
“I love my community — I guess most people do.”
Those words of Lillard’s are typical of her approach to life and the community in which she was bom and still lives.
She worked at the Flint Hill Post Office for 27 years and was postmaster for part of that time. She also had a beauty shop, Mabel’s Beauty Shop, for many years and still visits people in the Sunny Slope Nursing Home and friends who can’t get out any longer to style their hair.
Lillard has been very involved in church activities for the Flint Hill United Methodist Church since she was 12-years-old (she’s now 83). She is a member of the Society of Methodist Women which works through the church to contribute to missions and send money to aid the needy, both here and in other places. They also send packages overseas to missions and causes as needed. They recently planted a tree at the church to commemo
