Rappahannock County. During the Civil War, huge contingents of troops from both sides were encamped in Woodville (at the very spot of the festival). We survived a direct hit by a tornado, and we’re 200-years-old this year.
The organization hopes this information stirs its fellow citizens to interest and action to begin discussions on the many ways in which to participate.
The Woodville Bicentennial Organization is already faced with several expenses and would welcome contributions from those who would care to invest in this historic American event. Donations may be sent to: Treasurer, Woodville Bicentennial Organization, Mrs. Angela Wood, Certified Public Accountant, Woodville, 22749. Identified expenses to date total $3,100 as follows: manufacture of new town signs, $1,600 for the pair; historical marker, $1,100; and, live festival music, $400.
The organization expresses deep gratitude to Tom Tepper, architect, for donating his services in drafting the designs for the new town signs, the commemorative pictorial cancellation postmark, and other endeavors. Tepper lives in Castleton.
