brings every morning direct from local farms and farmers markets in Winchester and Berryville. “I won’t buy something if it doesn’t look good. This is all perishable product. It’s got to look better than what is available in grocery stores.”
Holster plans to expand the stock she carries to provide an outlet for local producers of specialty food items. “Every weekend, I try to do a little more,” she said. “I’m learning what customers like and I want to keep the business growing.”
She has already added honey, jellies, salad dressings, barbecue sauces, pickles and potted herbs to her edible inventory, as well as Spyder Mountain smoked trout. Next on her list are fresh pies, ostrich meat products and eggs. Through the summer and fall, she will also sell bedding and hanging plants, then pumpkins and gourds for Halloween.
The market is open every Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
