Mr. and Mrs. Donald Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Harding traveled to Colonial Beach on July 4th to help celebrate Crockett Morgan Poland’s fourth birthday. This was a very special day for many of the Poland family including Crockett’s little sister Forrest Hali. Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Poland had a big cookout dinner and fireworks display on the Potomac River. Crockett’s mother is the former Courtney Jones of Amissville..
The Old Dominion Championship Rodeo Inc. will present “The Beast of the East Stampede” again this year at Great Meadow in The Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 5 and 2 p.m. on Sept. 6. Last year’s rodeo was absolutely fantastic! They are scheduled to have several events including steer wrestling, ladies’ barrel racing, bare back, saddle bronco, and bull riding to name a few. This is a rain or shine family outing. Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the gate for adults and $7 in advance or $9 at the gate for children. The Episcopal Church of the Word in Gainesville is bring Vacation Bible School right into your neighborhood. The Jenkins family in Amissville will host “Passport to the Holy Land” Aug. 10-14 from 9 a.m. until noon.
