Vacation Bible School is in progress this week at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church through Friday, July 10 each day 9 until 11:30 a.m. Any child through sixth grade is invited to the remaining session.
Mrs. Irene Terry and Mrs. Dorothy Miller and other friends returned home Sunday from a nine day “Convention Trip” to Cleveland, Tenn.
Miss Amanda Sims spent the two recent weeks with her aunt Miss Linda Hawkins in Virginia Beach and also visited in Norfolk and other places of interest.
Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Peyton were shoppers in Fredericksburg on Wednesday.
Miss Sally Green graduated from Fort Pierce Central High School in St. Lucie, Fla. on June 6. Eric Green was a recent graduate from Great Lakes Naval Academy. They are the children of Mr. Larry Green of Reva Way and Mrs. Mike Azbell of Florida.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Frazier and Christopher of Turkey Ridge Road accompanied by Mrs. Alvin Atkins of Sperryville toured Skyline Drive on July 4th returning by way of Madison County to view the fireworks at Graves Mountain Lodge.
Our prayers and deep sympathy goes out to Mrs. Ed (Emma) Baker and family upon the passing of her sister Miss Barbara Ann Nelson, which occurred Friday at University of Virginia Medical Center. Emma and Barbara and their late parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Nelson were former residents here, residing on the Quaintance farm where Mr. Nelson was employed. Mrs. Baker has faithfully cared for her sister since the death of their parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Grigsby and family were Monday afternoon callers of Mrs. Joe Peregory.
The Heflin family has moved from the Cubbage house on Richmond road.
