Easement update
On Aug. 17, the Virginia Outdoors Foundation recorded a conservation easement donated by Susan Babcock protecting 42 1/2 acres on the Rush River in Harris Hollow. This bring the county’s total conservation easements to 7,980 acres.
No BZA meeting
for August
The August meeting of the county Board of Zoning Appeals, scheduled for Aug. 26, has been canceled due to lack of business. The next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
Board restricts
through trucks
on Route 1001
The Commonwealth Transportation Board last week approved restricting through trucks on Route 1001 through Sperryville.
The board also accepted a bid to widen and improve Route 729 in Rappahannock County.
By restricting through trucks from driving on Route 1001, the board’s action will prohibit trucks from traveling east on US 211, turning onto Route 1001 and connecting with southbound Route 522.
The Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors requested the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) to take this action.
In other action, the board accepted the $190,000 bid from R.W. Harris Excavating of Madison Heights to widen Route 729 and improve the intersection with Route 615 near Estes.
The project will improve the ..wrLontal a. d vertical alignment of the road and install right and left-hand turn lanes on Route 729 at Route 615.
