Starfish is committed • to helping youth find their own strength, and nurturing their capacity for initiative. Every young person in Rappahannock has potential. It is a county full of individuals with a passion for a particular profession or hobby, skilled artists and crafts people, and people who are doing what i they love. Starfish may serve as the vehicle for tapping these resources for our youth.
The best kept secret is that the mentors flourish just as much if not more than their proteges. Helping young people identify their gifts, facilitating the mastery of their skills, encouraging them to focus on a goal and watching them succeed, these are the rewards for the mentors. Many of these relationships endure, and enable both to cherish the experience of this special brand of friendship.

Mentors whose applications have been completed will be participating in an October training session. Their commitment is for a year, and is renewable with the agreement of all concerned.
