Flower design progr am planned
Hardie Newton, a nationally recognized garden design specialist who lives in Madison County will discuss and demonstrate her work in a program at the Old Sperryville Bookshop on Sunday, Sept. 12 at 2 p.m.
Her talk, entitled, “The Creative Hand,” is free and open to the public. The speaker is the author of “Hardie Newton’s Celebration of Flowers, a book on bringing the beauty of floral design to home and garden. She is a Virginia Master Gardener and a frequent speaker before garden clubs across the country.
Ms. Newton has done design work for the National Geographic Society, Arlie House and Montpelier, among many other public and private clients. She learned bonsai techniques in Hawaii, studied in England, trained at the American Horticultural Society’s River Farm, and installed plantscaping into the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Old Sperryville Bookshop is located at 44 Main Street in the historic village of Sperryville, across from the post office. For information call 987-8444.
