Development
Village areas will be studied over the
next several months. If you have an
opinion, make yourself heard.
Last Wednesday, the Rappahannock Planning
Commission members came up with names of
people to study possible future directions for zoning and development of the county’s village and commercial areas. And while the individuals named at the meeting will make recommendations, that does not mean that they should be the only ones involved.
Piedmont representative Tom Junk mentioned that anyone who wanted could attend the Sperryville meeting on Sept. 1. And that is not a bad idea for all of the groups. If you wish to make your thoughts and feelings on the issue known, then at the very least you should contact your Planning Commission representative or the people they are Working with on this matter and let them know what you think.
There are some issues at stake here. For instance, in Amissville they are trying to decide what shape future development in their village will take. And though each community may have a different agenda, each one has issues. But not getting involved will result in the future of the villages being decided by a few individuals.
Who is your representative on the planning commission? In addition to Mr. Junk, these people are:
• Dr. Werner Krebser, Commission Chair and Wakefield District representative
• Ray Brown, Sr., who represents the Jackson District
• Susan Babcock, who represents the Hampton District; and
• Tom Tepper, who represents the StonewallHawthorne District
