David Alther

Home: Gid Brown Hollow Occupation: Custodian, Rappahannock County Elementary School Accomplishments: Rather than just doing his job and going home, David Alther is always willing to lend a hand whenever needed and will go out of his way to help at the elementary school. RCES Principal Raye Tupper noted that everyone, community leaders, teachers and even students, admire and respect him. She added “David is always willing to help out, and he’s always congenial...We’re very lucky to have him.” Theresa Light, who works in the Headwaters Program, commented in a recent issue of the Rappahannock News that “David Alther, as always, earns my highest respect for helping me get the auditorium ready for performances. I still think he’s an angel from somewhere else. He’s just too good.” He also helps out neighbors from time-to-time, fixing mowers, saws or anything else in need of repair. David and his wife Pam have a son, David, Jr. He is a member of Luray Full Holiness Church.
