workshop scheduled
A Super Sitters 4-H workshop will be held on Saturday, March 11 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Rappahannock Extension Office. A minimum of five people must sign up or this workshop will be canceled. The workshop is geared toward teens between the ages of 12 and 19 and will teach them about proper babysitting, first aid for children and proper foods for children. Call the Extension Office at 675-3619 to sign up as soon as possible.
Services Board to meet
The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 1 p.m. at its Bradford Road Office. Public comments on the board’s strategic plan for 2000-2006 and on its plans for equipment acquisition under the FTA 5310 Program will also be received at the beginning of the meeting. Individuals with disabilities who require special assistance to attend and participate in this meeting should contact Paula Benenson at 825-3100, extension 3146, or 8257391 (TDD).
Walk-in clinic days set
Walk-in clinic for immunizations, pregnancy tests, blood pressure checks, etc. will be held Feb. 8 from 1 to 2 p.m.; Feb. 15 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and Feb. 22 from 1 to 2 p.m.
General clinic for women’s health, family planning, well baby check, school physicals will need an appointment. Dates are Feb. 3 and Feb. 17 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
WIC, women-infant-child nutrition will need an appointment. Dates are Feb. 8 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and on Feb. 25 from 1 to 3 p.m. For more information call Melinda Beach RN at 675-3516.
Dance classes to begin
Beginning Feb. 2, Charmaine Lee will lead a series of four synergydance classes on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Town Hall on Gay Street. Additional classes will be held Feb. 16, Feb. 23 and March 1. Cost is $40; drop-ins $12. Bring a yoga mat. For additional information call 987-8696.
Presentation on Acupuncture
On Sunday, Feb. 6 from 1 - 4 p.m., Licensed acupuncturist Eugene Spence will give an informative talk on the many benefits of acupuncture at the Healing Arts Center in Sperryville. In addition to demonstrating how it works, a question and discussion period will follow to answer specific health concerns of the audience. Find out how it can impact your particular health problem.
