Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at Maddox Funeral Home with Rev. John Burke and Rev. Phillip Bailey. Burial followed in the Washington Masonic Cemetery in Washington.
Mr. Sutphin was bom Feb. 25, 1940 in Flint Hill, son of Raymond and Elizabeth Ann Baldwin Sutphin.
He was a farmer and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 829. He was married to the late Ann Lee Sutphin.
Surviving are two sons, Charles E. Sutphin Jr. of Flint Hill and Maury A. Sutphin of Front Royal; a daughter, Brenda Lee Sutphin of Flint Hill; two brothers, Malcolm W. Sutphin of Gainesville and Jody M. Sutphin of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Loretta S. Lee of Washington and Marilyn S. White of Winchester and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Richard Lee Settle, William Richard Settle, Thomas R. Taylor, Harold R. Compton, Bryant Lee, George Lee, Edwin Eastham, III and Lynwood Smelser.
Honorary pallbearers were Manuel J. Pullen, Dale Welch, Alvin P. Grigsby, Patrick Lee, Eddie Williams and E.J. Welch.
