land and help retain farms and other open spaces; and ‘Organization Building* which focuses upon those activities required to assure the costeffectiveness of the organization’s administration, as well as the RCCA’s outreach, education and promotion programs.
All task forces will generate specific projects over the next few months, and all projects will be staffed by volunteer members with the requisite skills and available time. The skills and information required, according to an RCCA board member, “are likely to be broad-ranging, and we can be most effective only with the solid participation and support of Rappahannock residents.” Project activities will require knowledge and understanding in areas including agriculture, horticulture and forestry, land use planning, land conservation, environmental science, law, marketing, construction, tourism, real estate, architecture, engineering, research, computer science, mapping, graphic design, technical writing and publishing, and the RCCA is hopeful that residents who share in the desire to keep Rappahannock scenic and rural will provide their support.
The Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance is a non-profit organization directed exclusively at Rappahannock County preservation and membership is all open to all. Those interested in participating as a member and on project efforts can reach the RCCA at 987-3311.
