The Rappahannock County Conservation Alliance (RCCA) moved forward to the next step in the process of fulfilling its mission by developing four task forces to create an initial i, suite of preservation and Yural character retention’ pro' jects. The organization’s mission objectives of “ensuring • that Rappahannock County remains a scenic rural community” will be accomplished, f. said RCCA President Bayard Catron, “by designing and developing projects that will serve to identify and develop r preservation tools, educate Rappahannock residents to their availability and use, and % facilitate their application to i make certain that the Rappahannock County of the future is as pristine as our County is today.”
The task forces include ‘Land Conservation,’ directed toward preservation of open , space by the use of such preservation tools as conserh vation easements and the identification and purchase of critical properties; ‘Land Use/Building Practices,’ in which RCCA will identify and promote suitable approaches to rural residential and commercial building as well as the appropriate uses of land in the ' county’s various zoning dis• tricts; ‘Rural Economic Development’ under which RCCA will investigate the means of broad marketing and promotion of the county’s eco, nomic resources such as agriculture, horticulture and tourism in an effort to support the ‘return on investment’ on
