John McCarthy reminded the board that a sensor-operated fountain was required under the American with Disabilities Act, and that any replacement would need to be sensor-operated as well. The board also discussed exterior lighting issues and the failure of , the automatic lights, and the committee will investigate alternatives. Director Shaffer informed the board that the Jamieson Room was fully equipped except for a TV/VCR, and the board approved a request to the Friends of the Library for this equipment.
Other activities
• John Hartline reported that the Social Services ‘One Stop’ office will open in the Literacy Volunteers of America (LVA) space by March 1, 2000.
• David Shaffer presented a draft Library budget for the 2000-2001 fiscal year that showed totals of $115,601, an increase of approximately six percent over this year’s budget. The board discussed the draft, and changes were suggested. A new draft will be prepared by Feb. 24.
