4-H doe was generous enough to produce a doe kid (in Ben's case his doe produced two doe kids!) to be retained by the 4-Her's as future dairy prospects.
After successfully kidding, the does began their life as dairy animals with strict twice daily milking schedules. The dairy goats will be shown at the fair, with the milking does competing in a senior doe show and this year's kids competing in the junior doe show. Adam, Austen and Ben will be joined by Carly and Devin Day, and approximately 15 youth exhibitors from Culpeper and Madison counties, for the dairy goat show. This will be the first opportunity for Carly and Devin to show off their Nigerian Dwarf goats, a miniature dairy breed.
Under the leadership of Jim Massie, Randall Updike and Sue Garvin, all the members of the Rappahannock Livestock and Dairy Goat Clubs are busy making final preparations for the CulpeperMadison-Rappahannock Farm Fair, July 27 - 31, at Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises, Route 29, two miles south of Culpeper.
