Public debate on the motion came largely from nonCouncil member of the Wastewater Study Committee Diane Bruce and Claudia Mitchell. Ms. Bruce led off the discussions with a statement critical of the anticipated council move. She said, "No doubt the motion will pass. You have the votes—it's always the same. . ..The council that appointed us was a council with foresight. The council that will abolish us is a council without."
Ms. Mitchell, referring to the proceedings at earlier meetings said, "Questions from council were not wellversed ... I don't understand how you expect to dissolve a committee that has four years of knowledge . . . many of the people on the town council have no clue about what’s going on . . .
