A tentative budget for the town of Washington was among the items on the agenda of Tuesday's August meeting for the Town Council. The budget's total is $9,157 and funds are derived from Rappahannock National Bank tax, state sales tax, ABC funds, utility pole tax, rolling stock, building permits and interest on savings plus Revenue sharing funds. Lynn Anderson was proclaimed queen of the Amissville carnival festivities and received her tiara in a ceremony Friday night. Donna Early was first runner-up in the contest and Tina Wince was second runner-up. Other contestants included Debbie Story, Patty Eisenman and Dawn Harms. A group of area residents have returned from a 1,600 mile motorcycle trip to Canada, Mr. and Mrs. David Jenkins of Chester Gap, Mr. and Mrs. William Tharp and Mr. and Mrs. and Mrs. Jamie Tharp of Castleton, Donald and Ricky Settle and Jimmy Brown, all of Amissville and Michael Bee of Culpeper. They entered Canada by way of Niagara Falls and the farthest point visited was Ottawa, Canada. Other cities visited included Toronto, Kingston and Thousand Islands. The travelers returned Saturday from the four-day tour.
