Rappahannock is such a neat place to do this work because it is small and the people you work with are not just "clients" but people you come to know well and care about. Also, Rappahannock as a community is very responsive. Ms. Leathers stated that the Department has recently started a Career Resource Center at the Rappahannock Library to assist people in getting jobs, additional training, or assistance for those already employed in finding better paying jobs. She has also assisted in getting a Healthy Families program going in Rappahannock. She is a certified trainer for VCU, conducting various trainings for staff of local departments of social services. She has three sons, Charlie a junior at JMU; Will a senior in high school and Jeremy, a sophomore in high school. She and her husband Tony, reside in Madison County. Recreational pursuits often are centered on sports, since Will and Jeremy are very active in sports and Tony plays softball. She is an avid reader, enjoys listening to music, but her most favorite pastime is Jazzercise. She is a certified instructor and teaches several classes a week.
