Scouts plan water carnival
Cub Scout Pack 123 Water Carnival will be held Saturday. Aug. 25 at the Washington fire hall. The fun begins at 3 p.m. All cub scouts and their families are invited to attend. The pack would also like to extend the invitation to all boys in grades one through five and their families who would like to join in.
Wear a swim suit or shorts and water shoes or sneakers Bring a towel, you will get wet. There will be water games of all sorts, prizes and refreshments. For more information call Assistant Cubmaster Opie Crawford at 987-8495, Committee Chairman Libet Pierson at 937-5605 or your den leader.
A n n u a l meeting set
Southern States Front Royal Cooperative will hold its annual membership meeting on Thursday, Aug. 30 at Bowling Green Country Club North, 838 Bowling Green Road, Front Royal beginning at 7:30 p.m.
With the theme Working to Make the Business of Farming Pay Better,” the meeting will include reports on both local and company-wide operations, as well as the election of local board members. Retiring board members will also be recognized.
Blue Moon schedule
Blue Moon Cafe will reopen with Open Mic on Aug. 23 and a full schedule. Joe Bowling will perform on Friday, Aug. 24 and Bobby Glasker and the Blues Hawkes will be playing Aug. 25. Blue Moon Cafe is located on US 211, just west of Sperryville.
Whorton family reunion set
There will be a family reunion at the Rappahannock Park near Washington Sept. 1 for the family and friends of the late Henry T. Whorton and Lillie M. Cloud Whorton. “Come, bring a covered dish and join us," said a family spokesperson.
Summer trail rides
The Rappahannock Hunt is currently sponsoring summer trail rides. On Sunday, Aug. 26 the ride will be held at Hampton Stock Farm at Massie’s Corner, Washington at 10 am.

Articulture, a newly formed group of artists, invite talented Rappahannock individuals of all medias to register for an upcoming data base designed to stimulate art awareness and business. Forms are available at the library as well as various small businesses throughout the county.
Jenkins family reunion set
The annual Jenkins reunion will be held Aug. 25 beginning at noon at the Rappahannock Recreation Center. Descendants and friends of Thomas and Louise; Luther and Ada; Herbert and Ida; Hubert and Blanche and Elmer and Claudia are all invited to attend. Entertainment will be provided and Jesse Jenkins and the Blue Valley Boys.
Clinic will be open Sept. 5
The Rappahannock Free Clinic, a local operation of the Fauquier Free Clinic Inc., is currently open on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. The clinic will be open Wednesday, Sept. 5 and not again until Sept. 19. Patient registration is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Public Health Department Building.
