DukesFest ‘01, the weekend festival at Cooter’s Place in Sperryville is expected to attract “Dukes of Hazzard” fans from throughout the United States.
“We expect it will be the busiest weekend we’ve had,” says Ben “Cooter” Jones. “The response has been surprising. There are even people coming from Europe and South America.”
DukesFest ‘01 will feature over 50 General Lee’s, several cast members and a number of people who helped to create the show. It will run Friday, Aug. 24 to Sunday, Aug. 26.
DukesFest ‘01 will also feature displays, demonstrations, a “Dukes” swap meet, an auction of General Lee parts, plenty of catfish and barbecue and several wellknown country and bluegrass bands.
Additional parking will be available at the Glassworks Gallery, Mountainside Market and the Hearthstone School. A shuttle bus will be provided.
Sperryville is located about 25 miles west of Warrenton adjacent to the Shenandoah National Park.
