One of the basic issues outstanding is the timing of , enacting a sludge ordinance. Planning Commission Chairman Werner Krebser reported that John McCarthy . suggested waiting for the outcome of two lawsuits brought against local jurisdictions by sludge haulers but, on the other hand, opinion was voiced to get something on the books to protect the County and its citizens.
Supervisors representative to the Commission, Ron Frazier, said that it is his personal opinion that a sludge ordinance should be on the books by September. Commissioner Tom Junk said that he thinks that “we can wait a little bit . . . that we should have a draft ordinance in September or October.”
