Mr. Zindel, referring to the “Exemptions” section of the draft, said that he thought that farms should not be exempt from the ordinance. Mr. Henry said that he disagreed, and added that he was “troubled like wildfire” by Jim Gannon’s suggestion last month that the Commission investigate “making the importing of sludge a disqualification for tax benefits (land use taxation).”
Though that comment was related to a different draft ordinance, Mr. Henry noted that “agriculture is a tradition here—open space comes with cattle and grazing . . . they (the farmers) have enough burden. We shouldn’t put anything on agriculture . . .” Both Mr. Krebser and Mr. Tepper voiced their agreement with Mr. Henry.
The Commission then moved to advertise a public hearing on the lighting ordinance for their September meeting.
