Mr. McCarthy hopes the race will raise $5,000 this year, part of which will fund the resurfacing of the park’s tennis courts. In the past, the $1,500 to $2,000 raised annually has been used for tennis clinics and to purchase new playground equipment, he said.
One thing is certain, he said. On the morning of April 26, hundreds of men, women and children will arrive at the north end of Fodderstack Road, geared up to run and compete for trophies in their age divisions. Moms will push baby strollers alongside teenaged cross-country team members.
