Starting Jan. 30, every Tuesday will be “Ladies Day” at Rappahannock Sid Area in Washington, Va. Women will be entitled to special rates for lifts, lessons and rentals for the day or afternoon.
Dr. and Mrs. Carroll Quaintance were weekend guests of Capt. and Mrs. Ulrich Maeyer and children, Nicole and Heidi in Arlington and also attended the Inaugural Ball at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Look at the raw numbers and you’ll conclude that development is by-passing Rappahannock County: only 87 building permits were issued here for single-family homes in 1987. Eighty-seven permits wouldn’t cause a ripple of concern "in Fauquier, Culpeper and other nearby counties where residential subdivisions in the hundreds of units are now pending.
But those 87 new single-family dwellings are “far and away the most ever in Rappahannock County” in one year, Zoning Administrator John McCarthy told the Planning Commission last week. Senior Angie Armentrout became Rappahannock County High School’s second Homecoming Queen during a ceremony Friday night.
