Our View
A champion
Rappahannock County is an unusual community,
peopled with a most diverse lot who, for the
most part, have worked selflessly to ensure that the county does and will forever retain its rural charm and country sensibilities.
One need not look far, to every point of the compass in fact, to see what we could have been if not for these tireless efforts. It is not in a vacuum, though, that a community develops its values and adheres to certain beliefs. It takes a seed of nascent ideals, and it is onto and around such seeds that a community coalesces and matures its thoughts.
In Rappahannock County many of these seeds were home-grown, but some came from other counties and other states and other countries to join with and evolve the philosophies of living and principals of preservation that make Rappahannock what it is today.
Zurich, Switzerland lent us one such notable ... a man who has given his all for some 40 years to see that Rappahannock County remains the jewel that it was long ago ... a man whose influence will be felt here long into the future.
Dr. Werner Krebser came to these states from Switzerland in 1950, and to this county nearly 40 years ago. He came to treat the ill and founded the Rappahannock Medical Clinic, but he did more than that, much more.
He has treated our spirits as well through his successes as a Planning Commissioner and as Chairman of that body, and as one of our foremost champions of open space, scenic vistas, and clear skies.
"Doc” Krebser recently resigned from the Planning Commission so that he and his wife, Fran Moore Krebser, could focus on succeeding in his battle against cancer. -
We will miss the public face of Werner Krebser, but we look forward to his presence as a private citizen of Rappahannock — at county meetings, with the "Lunch Bunch" at the Public House, and just around.
